#2092 Australian Coolibah burl from the "Outback" territory....

Finished January 30, 2024, and sold for $395 on February 14, 2024, this Australian Coolibah burl bowl has an extreme undercut rim, and multiple details. The initial block had a 22% MC, and after roughing and application of anchorseal, it took a total of 17 months to reach stabilization. It was sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, and Beall 3-step buffed. I really love these ultra-outstanding highly figured Australian burls....but, man, are they expensive to get!!!!! :)

Odie - How big is this piece? If you don’t mind could you share the wood cost?

Hi Jim......:)

The raw turning block for this bowl was 8 x 8 x 3, and the finished bowl is 7 9/16 x 2 3/4. I purchased it from Cook Woods of Oregon when it was on sale for $100.62 in July of 2022. The usual price for this size of Coolibah burl is around $150.

Another beauty Odie! I wonder the last time an ordinary piece of wood got chucked up on your lathe!! Your gallery is like a who's, who of wood blanks, lol!!

Hey, thanks Russ.....:)

I appreciate your taking time out to comment my friend!

I try my very best to live up to the kind of excellence that Mother Nature can provide.
