Sassafras Eggception

Sassafras Eggception

Sassafras, Suriname Ironwood, and Black Cherry. A variation of Al Hockenbery's ball in a ball, the small egg moves around freely, but can't be removed. Large egg finished with satin rattle lacquer, and small egg and pedestal finished with hemp oil. 8.25" tall and 3.25" diameter.
A great eye at work! I love the contrasting coloring used but the colors blend at the same time. Changing the grain orientation really sets the piece off. Multiple planes being incorporated in a great blend and it’s topped off by the tiniest detail turned around the “yolk”. Stellar effort Michael!!
