Bradford Pear bowl, turned, carved, woodburned, and partly ebonized via India ink. I wanted this to appear as if there were a bunch of individual pieces layered on top of a solid core. 7.25”d x 3.25”h.
I love the contrast you created with the pyro Michael! Those vertical lines are sooo well done…..could they have been done by hand?? This missing “cereal” chunks was a nice experiment for sure….what really ties everything together is the natural interior finish….no doubt this is wood with great detailing!! Outstanding effort!!

Thanks so much Russ!!! It was a fun experiment and has led me to a couple new ideas I’m excited about. That’s probably the best part. :)

Bradford Pear has such a nice natural color (once it darkens a bit). I’m always happy to let it be the star of the show.

And yep, all lines drawn by hand! I used a pencil to add some guidelines, and then a skew tip to burn it all. A little bit nerve racking, but not too bad.

Love the radiating pyrography effect on the bottom/foot and the rim. Well done, Michael ... again!
I too was admiring the precision of your burning in the dark background areas. Great to have them start from the center of the foot and continue to the inside rim edge. Mad skills Michael!
