Spring is Near

After turning boxes for the last 2 months (whew!) it's time for a change. This seasonal platter is turned from hard maple and embellished with colorful stencils. The bird and grass stencils are on the right side and the flower cluster is on the left. Finished with wax only as I like my platters to be more matte then my boxes. Size is approx. 7" diameter and 1.5" thick. I always like when the season changes because it means summer is around the corner!!
So clean, Gabriel. Nice work! Can you talk about your stencil method a bit?
Ok, I am seeing this 5 months later :D.....I first print off an image from the web and cut it out on regular paper. Then I lay the design on the wood and use graphite paper to transfer the design over to surface. I will then color with Pitt artist pens the copied design, outlining in black the borders and then color in the brighter colors.
