A White Ash bowl, twice turned, outward facing orientation.
12 inches by 5. Finished with shellac, and top coated with tried and true varnish oil. Finished weight is 16.5 oz.
One of the things I love about this piece and others like it is the type of simplicity that lets the natural wood show its beauty. I don't think people always can appreciate the level of thought and skill that makes this happen - e.g., deciding on the outward facing orientation, the even thickness, dimensions, etc...

I’m so relieved and heartened that with all of the cool toys and methods used in our craft that there is still room for simple.
Thank you Marc. I was not aware of that guideline. @Rick Urban I did noticed there was something different about the grain on Marc's bowl but couldn't workout what it was. Very impressive that you saw it from just one picture.
