Yeah they are a wee bit off. They floated after I stacked them and put weight on it. I have a sister bowl to this one where I arranged the highlights in more of a spiral pattern than an alternating pattern and it drifted even more. I haven't turned it yet so I'm a little afraid they are going to look sorta random.
Concentric rings, cones on your tailstock will help a lot Matt. I glue most rings on the lathe; this creates better joint alignment control for me. I’ve added a line laser that aligns with the headstock and tailstock which helps a lot. Pete Marken will turn his rings round before gluing; this adds to expert alignment (something I’m not guilty of), lol.
