Something a little different. This piece is made with Jatoba. It started as a fairly standard vase form that was then cut apart into this sculptural shape. The inside in textured with rotary cutters and colored with acrylics.
This is sooo Al Miotke!! This is hard to look away from Al!
It‘s always amazing when one takes a perfectly made vessel and cuts it apart, borderline crazy! It’s actually nicely outside of the box.
I love the positioning of the form leaning to the left. Your technique of wrapping the exterior finish around to the interior to contain the inside finish has always been one of my favorite Al Miotke touches.
Your technique of showcasing the segmentation of the piece is outstanding on this beauty!!
You are going to need more display cabinets at the rate you are going; your work is one of the reasons (only reason, lol) why I love long winters in Chicago!!
