Pet Urn

Pet Urn

I made this vessel with blues over black. After washing it back, it has a bit of a silver or pewter hint.
Made from hard maple, 16 segment half in thick rings and an eboinized hard maple finial, all finished in polyurethane.
The brass insert opening is about 1-1/2".
Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.
George
That looks great George! Nice choice going Segmented; let’s your Pet know you really loved them!!

Beautiful color and finish on a classic shape!

While I’m à relatively new member, I likely enjoy seeing others work over posting my own. I’m relatively new to turning and have completed about 15-20 pens and a handful of turned boxes. I’ve recently been learning use of the skew, thanks to Alan Lacer, Richard Raffan and Colwin Way videos. Just due to my health issues and hand, eye, and body coordination it’s doubtful that I’ll ever produce the beautiful pieces you folks submit, but I thoroughly enjoy seeing your work as it gives me ideas to try in an attempt to improve myself. Recently I’ve been trying some multi center turning mostly on handles for tools and kitchen items. I’ve learned quite a bit watching Ray Hopper and Barbera Dill, but I’m sure to discover others. Thanks for your education!
