Snowmen

These snowmen just got finished in time for the holidays. Thought I would try my own spin and make it my own style. They are done in sycamore, white cedar, basswood and maple and hats in walnut mahogany and elm. They are a happy bunch and hope they make you smile.
These are some of the best snowmen I've seen! The tilted hats give them a unique look (as with the snow on top!), and the painting is so well done. AND, your attention to grain direction takes them up another notch. Excellent!

Thank you Michael for seeing all that went into making them.. There are a lot of snowmen out there, but sometimes you have to push yourself to see what you can come up with and try new things. Glad you enjoyed them.

Love those facial expressions! Terrific work, Joan.
What is the snow ... modeling paste, gesso ... ? Great effect!

Fantastic Joan! I think Michael expressed it well, and am so impressed how you've made the simple snowman so unique and captivating. Wonderful artistry!

Could I ask what inks and pens you used, as the lines are so crisp, controlled and clear. Is it over raw wood, or a seal coat? Thank you

Tom it’s a product called snowtex from a craft store. My next move would be to try modeling paste mixed with sand, I would think that would work.
