End grain turned bleached maple, pattern drawn free hand, and made permanent with a woodburning tip. The negative space and removal of the rim was done using the NSK Presto, followed by a LOT of careful hand sanding of all those edges. Color is pearlized blue acrylic, hand-painted.
Dimensions 5.75 " wide by 5.5 " high.
This was finished last week, just a few days before a show that happened over the 3-day weekend. What looked like to me would be a 'meh' show, in the last 15 minutes before closing ended with the sale of this piece, and frowns turned upside down. :-)
