Unknown Burl Bowl 2nd View

Second view. The logger I got this from told me what it is, but I forgot (AGAIN) so I'm a little embarrassed to ask again. Sweet smelling, easy cutting but definitely not maple.

Diameter: 8 inches
Height: 4 3/4 inches
Finish: Olive Oil, Shellac

And I CAN handle the truth!
Looks like magnolia to me(the color and the bark) also from the smell and working charactaristics.

Well, it's definitely not magnolia, I guess I'm going to have to embarrass myself and ask the logger I got it from...
The bottom of this piece was where the burl came off of the tree. There was no good" or even better orientation for the piece (that would have given me a larger bark edge piece). I could see that it didn't have the desirable "eyes" I like, and the shape in either orientation was just odd.
As I said, it just looked like that's what it wanted to be (to me).
