Myrtle Calabash

I clicked on it to say great bowl, nice simple form. Then I saw the title... Is the bottom round without a foot or a recess? It could be a Palewa or low sided calabash, would be better looking if you came in a bit more at the rim.

@Emiliano Achaval Thanks for the advice about the rim!

The bottom is flat with a recess, about 1/3 the width of the whole. The bowl is 8” at its widest point, and about 3.5” tall. Is there a calabash form it comes close to?

I didn’t know about the variety of named variations until I read your comment and did some searching. I found your wonderful article in Woodturning magazine. Now I’m fascinated by the history and want to explore the form.
