I think this is birch. It was a very pale wood with a silvery smooth paper bark. I could see the beetle tracks and I almost did not turn it. I decided I'd try and just leave the piece rife with the holes. I am pretty pleased with it. It was a test piece before I collect anymore of the same tree. While it was fun and visually pleasing I've decided to not get more of the tree.
