spalted maple hollow form other side

I twice turned this one. Its 10 inches wide and 10 1/2 inches tall. Its finished with a water based lacquer and wet sanded to 12,000 grit.
Chris, nice piece. Wish I could get my maple to spalt like that. So far it just seems to get moldy and dark most of the time. I'm trying my had with lacquer. What water based lacquer did you use? How do you apply?

This came from a 36 inch diameter log from a dumping spot for a tree service. It was already spalted when i found it. Wish i could have got the whole log but a majority of it was holding up half the pile. I used emtech 6000 from target coatings sprayed with a detail spray gun from harbor freight. To get the mirror finish i let it cure for a week then wet sand by hand starting at 600 grit and work up through micro mesh pads starting at 1500 to 12000. I only do the sanding on unique pieces.
