1872 Redwood burl

Finished 9/23/2021. Redwood burl. 9 7/16" x 2 7/8". Weight is 9.2 oz. I don't get a chance to turn exceptional pieces of Redwood burl very often, and this one is one of the best I've ever had! Sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buff. This has an undercut rim, and many details. I have a few art collectors who monitor my work, and this one was reserved by one of my previous customers within 6 hours of listing it....lucky me to have such a great following! I've seen a drop off of sales over the past year, and I suspect the uncertain economy has something to do with it.

Sorry to hear about the drop in sales. Definitely not due to quality of work. I can see all the spiritual turning results in your pieces!

Oh, thank you kindly, Al. :)

You know, it's never been about the money anyway. Sure, I want to make sales, but that isn't my main focus. At that, I doubt I can do any better than 50% minimum wage, with the time and expense of it all. If I didn't get something far more valuable to me than monetary reward, it wouldn't be worth doing it at all! There is, after all, some satisfying things in this life that are not calculated in dollars and cents!

Have a good day, sir...

Odie - As always - I admire your designs, wood selection and quality of finish. You clearly do not have to do much sanding - looking at the crisp, clean lines on your work. So your cuts must be CLEAN...Would love to see you do some videos on your methods!
