Multi-Axis Ducks
These multi-axis ducks are turned from hackberry and padauk. Each is approximately 2 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" high with a Deft lacquer finish. Although the original duck idea was inspired by Mike Darlow, I have added my own touches by adding the tail feather feature and the slooped back to the duck. Each duck has its own personality created by slightly changing the length or width of the neck and head, adding cut grooves, or changing the bill placement, type of wood and coloring. The duck is held for turning by a set of wooden jaws I have created for my chuck with both a center line axis and an axis offset by 1/2". The initial turning of the foot for holding by the jaws is done between centers. The bill is turned seperately. I would appreciate any and all comments on these pieces.
Thanks Angelo,

I kind of think they are just Ducky myself!!

Its nice to see the national leadership take an interest in the membership, especially as I am a fairly new turner.
