Eucalyptus Twist
Brian Horais

Eucalyptus Twist

This 5 inch diameter bowl was turned from a block of Eucalyptus using a half twist method. This method utilizes multi-axis turning techniques to generate the twisted upper half with on-center turning for the cylindrical lower half. The graceful interactions between twisted and cylindrical surfaces are highlighted with embellishment and liming wax enhancements. Finish is Watco oil buffed on the Beall system.
Thanks Russ, sometimes it's those added little details that make the difference. I was hoping the eucalyptus would have more dramatic grain patterns. When the grain didn't really 'pop' during the finishing I decided to do some embellishing
