Maple Bowl

Maple (slightly spalted), with a small knurled band. 7 1/2" wide x 3 1/2" hi, and 5/32" walls (190.5mm wide x 88.9mm hi, and 3.97mm walls). The foot is just a 2
This is a wonderful bowl, Gil. The form and finish are well done and the rim treatment is excellent.

I have to agree with Cyril, you did very well on this my friend. This is a difficult shape to get a decent surface on the inside. The knurling looks nice and crisp, as do the border cuts on either side. Great photo also, Gil.

Cyril, Ken, and Angelo, thanks for the encouraging observations (and the Pic of the Day).
If anyone is interested in the band knurling, here is a pic of my homemade knurling tool. The working part of it is a hardened steel drill bit guide bushing with a knurled flange (from a scope mounting jig). The guide bushing is mounted on a small bolt, and allowed to spin against the turning wood. I made it for this piece, and it needs a modification as it gets hot quick in use.
