Ash: In Memoriam

It saddens me to turn ash these days as so many trees have succumbed to the Emerald Ash Borer. This piece came from a 100+ year old tree. The slab was quarter sawn and reveals almost the entire life from pith to bark. I left to borer-riddled live edge on the near side. To me, this piece is a statement from the tree: This was my life and this is how I died.
Approximately 14 inches across and 1.5 inches thick. Finished with several coats of wipe-on poly.
