Twisted Stacked Vases

This whimsical stack of twisted vases was turned as three separate items. The bottom two were turned off center using box elder for the bottom vase and poplar for the top vase. The top vase was painted in layers with a black base and green upper surface. 'leaf markings' were cut into the surfaces with a power carver and the edges were highlighted on the buffer. The inner 'bud' was turned from redheart with embedded poplar dowels to created the dotted highlights.

Each piece stands alone or in a stack as shown in the lower image. Total height stacked is 8 inches.
