On a Bender

Curly maple turned and carved 3 leg NE bowl 16" W x 18" D x 13" H and 1/8" wall thickness. This piece was turned at 24" wide and 10" high from fresh cut timber and was wet-sanded to 220 grit. Lacquer was applied to slow the drying while pressure was introduced to bend the bowl from 24" wide to a final width of 16" wide. The height of the turned piece went from 10" high to 13" high through the bending process. Rubber bands and clamps were used to achieve the final bent profile and form.
Thank you for the comment Bernie. I'm still playing around with bending bowls and testing the limitations.

@Don Wattenhofer Thank you Martin and Don. I have tried to upload a few thumbnails of progress photos but have been unsuccessful. I can't figure out how to upload a thumbnail without changing the original posted image.
