Black walnut box with curly maple window inlay

This round bottomed box in black walnut (Juglans nigra) features a window inlay of highly figured hard maple. The maple is so highly figured that it appears almost three dimensional when viewed from different angles. On the outside the inlay is framed by a delicate bead and a ring of texturing while a single bead frames and highlights the inlay on the inside of the box.
