"The Ragged Edge"

A burl cap bowl turned from an especially boisterous piece of Big Leaf Maple that I acquired from friend Ron Gerton..... 3-1/2" x 9" x 12". A Tung Oil finish followed by buffing.
The cap was attached to a chuck mounted mdf disc with an assortment of wood dunnage and lots of hot melt glue. If you are using hot melt glue, a spray bottle of denatured alcohol may be your best friend......
I wanted a simple, elegant, unobtrusive stand for this and settled for a small steel disc with 3 steel pins silver soldered in place.
Thank you for looking :)
Gorgeous, truly remarkable! Would love to see a photo of this mounted on the chuck you devised. I have a couple of similar burls and want to save the growth side as you did.

This is beautiful. I have a nice gifted chunk of dogwood burl that I’ve been saving for something special. After looking at this piece, I have some ideas. Thanks for the inspiration.
