One-Piece Yo-Yo & Box

This Amboyna burl one-piece yo-yo measures about 2.25" x 1.40" and weighs 66 grams (2.3 ounces), with matching polymer clay & variegated gold leaf cabochons embedded into each side, finished with rose engine turnings.

The purpose made storage box measures about 3.0" wide and stands 2.4" tall. The box body is made from Brazilwood (aka Pernambuco or Paubrasilia echinata). Embedded in the Amboyna burl lid is another gold leaf cabochon and rose engine turning on the inside surfaces.
Thank you...hard to find Amboyna is a great wood to work with. Extremely fine grain holds detail like nothing else. The cabochon's base material is black polymer clay, with a gold leaf top layer added on. Then, for these cabs, I used laser carved tools (shown below) to make the design impressions before firing.
