Butterfly Burl
Mike Gibson

Butterfly Burl

Butterfly Burl can be found local and attracts butterflies and other insects, as the water gets trapped in the holes in the burl cap, bit like a butterfly bush but for water. Not all burls have those volcanic looking points with holes in the top. The butterflies are made from Pear by turning a very shallow bowl 3/32" then cutting out the forms. The antenna, legs and stem holding the orange one are spring steel.
Pierced, pyro, textured, and airbrushed, stands approx. 9” to the highest point.
