Trembling Poppy with Root Ball

Here's Mark Hall's and my latest - A Trembling Poppy with Root Ball. My friend Micheal Kehs had shown us this type of shape. Then Mark was studying French Tremblers and we saw Greg Gallegos beautiful work. So the shape is something several artists have played with - but they're so hard to make. I like the color addition, which feels like a new push. They quake for a bit when touched, because the stem is so thin. Earth quake detector?
what type of wood is it?

How elegant.
