For a true Hawaiian calabash you started going in a little too soon... Did you read my article about the Hawaiian Calabash on Woodturning magazine? You did get the bottom right. Still, I would call it a calabash... Nice work.
@Emiliano Achaval Thanks for the advice, Emiliano. Yes, I did read the article in the AAW journal, and it inspired me to make the bowl for my in-laws who live on Oahu.
@rkriet Pat Miller wrote the article for the Journal. I wrote it for woodturning UK Magazine... I had approach the Journal last year with the idea, but I was turned down. After they saw my article I guess they like the idea... When you come to Oahu, you must visit the Bishop Museum, lots of ancient calabashes there. A few of them donated by my wife's family... And if you come to Maui , better come and see me! Aloha
