question....the form is called a sculpture....is it turned on 4 axis?....then carved...
.where is the veneer....on the base or sculpture....imagine....definitely a different dimension
Charlie, turned really on just one axis from both sides. Inner lobes all carved. The veneer is showing on the 2 back lobes as a dark straight line. I bought this blank at an antique mall (of all places) and whoever had it before made a cut with a bandsaw right into the nicest part of the burl. I repaired it by gluing in a piece of black veneer before turning it.
great save....great piece.....really like looking thru stuff....never know what you may find.....that piece may have gone thru multiple people before you saw it.....thanks for sharing
