Thanks, Bill. Like much in turning it was an educated guess on what might work, and it did. It's companion piece was a dud... But I won't put those in the gallery!
@Michael Lyle Zach has removed the tenon or mortise and signed the bottom so I would say yes ... turning green wood thin and letting it warp is a technique for going "au natural" to give a more organic look and feel to a turning.
