One Piece

This 13.5 x 3 inch figured maple hollow form within a bowl was turned from a single piece of wood. The two are not glued together. I had to make a special tool to under cut the wood to form the inner piece. The lid is walnut with a lamp work bead handle. The walls of the piece are 3 mm thick so it is very light. The inset photo shows the piece being formed on the lathe.
