Rippled Vase

Green Madrone. After turning the exterior, a parting tool was used to turn deep grooves around the circumference. The vase was then hollowed and allowed to dry. The shrinkage that occurred during drying caused the vanes to buckle, producing the rippled effect. The height is 8.25-inches.

That is such an interesting effect Dennis, I love it. Is there anywhere one can learn more about that technique?

I no longer remember who did it or where I saw it, but someone did a flower using this technique many years ago.
If there is enough interest, I can post a description of the process in the How-toos, Tips and techniques forum.
