Humpty Dumpty

As soon as I got the outside of this bowl shaped and stopped the lathe, I realized that what I had was Humpty Dumpty, as reassembled by a committee. Size is 18.5" x 8" deep. Sugar Maple burl with bark inclusions swirling throughout.
nice, what did the blank look like?, what finish did you use????

it catches the eye

The blank was the roughest looking thing you ever saw - knobby and all off balance. I seriously though of cutting it down into smaller pieces, until I realized the size of some of the bark inclusions.

The finish is Russ Fairfield's mix of one-third each Tung Oil, Spar Varnish and thinner. Works great. Really makes the grain pop.
