I cored the blank and used the smaller bowl, it;s 9 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall. After turning the outside, I fluted the bowl, then removed it form the chuck and taped the foot then went over and blasted it. Russian Olive is real soft and the picture tells it all. Came back mounted it again and turned the inside. Sanded it and reversed mounted to to turn the bottom. First coat of finish was a heavy coat of Danish Oil, a week later another coat and after drying, put on 8 coats of Wipe-on-Poly only on the insde of the bowl. The larger piece is still waiting it's turn on the lathe. That is the color of the wood, did not color the wood. It's another one of my favorite woods to turn.
