Two Board (Too Bored?) Boxes #1

Doing some flat work with some firewood I had sawed because the log was basically sound. This from the end trim on one 8"x5/4 board. About 7.5" spalted birch.
The log was spalted about ten-twelve inches in from either end. Less the end checks, leaves an eight by eight. This is an eight over a 7.75 dish, really, with a Kelle bulge to make the finial firm. On cross-grain boxes I like self-centering matches for top and bottom, where there's a taper fitting into a groove. Keeps them working regardless the moisture.

Log at $60/cord and the sawing was a flat $25 fee. Little over 90BF of 5/4 and some turning fun!
