Close up of Masur Birch eye, commemorative project

Here is a close up that shows how Masur Birch turned on the pith lends itself really well as representative of the pupil of an eye. I still need to master the correct method of dying it. Being end grain, it is very aggressive at absorbing the dye..
It's stunning Craig. Is the Masur birch the pupil, iris or both? Also, do you have any idea how your entry gets multiplied?

The Masur Birch is the iris.

The pupil is, I think African Blackwood, but it might be Ebony. That part of the project was done several months before the piece was finished

The multiple entries are a response to frustration. When I upload the picture, I get a message that my connection has timed out and I should retry. Soi I retry. Problem is, everything really worked fine, so the result is multiple copies. Just happens to be that after 3 tries, I give up.

Also turned a brass bolt round on the end to form the piece at the bottom of the tear.
