Have a single wheel or cutter that I use. Have tried it on softer woods and it does not cut that good. I did a pear piece and used the tool on the rim- you can tell that there is some work done on the rim edge. Using high gloss brought out the rim cutting. But on hard wood such a African Black Wood, it would do good. I do the cutting with the tool in the normal rotation of the wood on the lathe with the tool rest above center an a down ward slant on the tool.
