Bolivian Metmark Butterfly, Rainbows In Flight #1

This is one of those ideas that just wouldn't go away. So after several months I finially made it. I was reluctant to invest time into what was a complete experiment. Turned, cut, and sanded (because I have no carving skills).

Bradford Pear, Walnut, unknown root burl base, airbrush acrylics. Approximately 20" tall x 8" dia.

Your critique of this piece is much appreciated.
Your experiment is a winner Thomas. Your airbrushing is superb. It's appearance seems small, but actually it's quit tall. How did you do the stem?

The stem was turned to profile where the leaves attach and the other sides of the stem profile were cut off with a band saw, the stem was then bent and allowed to dry. The stem is walnut/comp wood.
