Curt Theobald visited me in my shop after demonstrating at the 2011 Totally Turning Symposium in Saratoga. He gave me some design advice for the Phantom Urn I made for Doug Fisher. I was also in the middle of a production run of my segmented travel mugs. He requested one with the Phantom Mask on it. So, here it is. I put it in the Instant Gallery at the AAW Symposium in San Jose with the title of "A Mug for a Friend," but he didn't see it. I gave it to him at the Banquet on Saturday night.
The construction is 8 Teak staves with dyed red veneer separation bands. The masks are Holly surrounded by epoxy with powdered Ebony filler. It has a Walnut plug in the base, signed and dated.
