The stance of this teapot is one of the primary cues to its Samurai character. Also, the form, colors, and textures certainly contribute. These somewhat vague cues are great fun to see working together.
Earl, there's a lot going on with this piece, and it's really neat. As you state it has the look of a Samurai. You did not say, so I assume there is only one species of wood. Really like all the texturing and color. Wonderful piece.
Hal, thank you for your comments. Basswood body, cherry top and tupelo spout. I have had the tupelo for a while and just wanted to work with it. Haven't done any turning with it yet. Seems too soft/spongy to turn.
