First and probably last attempt at turning pine species native to Illinois. This piece was given to me by a friend after it sat outside for a few years. It is believed to be Scott's pine? Because this wood lacks density and doesn't turn or burn well, I had originally thought of calling it "Not even good for firewood"
Approx 11"tall by 10" dia. airbrushed with dyes, sanded back, and airbrushed another color to create ribbons of color following the growth rings. The black marks other than around the knot showed up during the airbrushing, and were not visible prior to that. Finished with WOP. This piece was donated to an art auction by a non-for-profit organization that provides services to the developmentally disabled.
