I've been experimenting with some different shaped support structures for some of my pieces. The vessel is one of my split bowl designs. The vessel hangs on brass pins over the base, which is black painted maple.
The inspiration, as it were, for the base came from a piece of scrap that had a somewhat similar shape to it. Moral- never throw anything away.
Someday someone will find me buried under all the junk I didn't throw away.
