10" x 1.25" sugar maple finished with a combination of polyurethane, tung oil and turpentine. As I turned a larger blank, 3.5" X 10", and began seeing the grain, I took it off the lathe and to the band saw and cut 1.5 inches off one end.

Gorgeous, Greg. I have a lot of maple with this same color, (less the flame unfortunately!) and I am amazed every time when I see what's underneath.

Thanks, I know what you mean about being amazed. This is the 28th piece that I've turned from this sugar maple and each piece is full of wonder.
