Box with Pierced Lid

The lid is Boxwood, and the rest of the box is Red Mallee Burl (about 2.6" diameter). The inside of the lid has the same pattern, but rotated 18 degrees. The main challenge was coming up with a fixture to hold the piece while turning on the ornamental lathe (and aligning the pattern on the other side).

Influences here include Michelle Richards, Hans Weissflog, and Steve Ellis.
