Moon over Miami

22" turned and carved Curly Maple disk. Quilted and beaded hand dyed fabrics.

Collaboration with my wife Ruth. Third in the series "And now for something completely different".
Amazing! Such cool stuff and your getting a new one done every day this week. I usually like the traditional turnings but your series is very striking.

When I saw this, I was like 'wow that's cool.'
I wonder if it'd be too tacky to have a quilted maple disc.
But to show good figure, you'd need a more yellow color. I'm very partial to the super pale maple in combination with the blue. It works.
You'd also need a bajillion dollars to get a two-foot wide slab of highly figured quilted maple.
I'm rambling.
I give it an A+.

I like the fact that you have rounded over the edges of the cutout. It makes it have a blended feel, like it is molding itself to the fabric. What a striking piece!
