Pierced Box

Pierced Box

My dentist gave me an old drill and some bits and I have wanted to try something for sometime. I was inspired by some Christmas ornaments I saw and this is my first attempt.
The top is maple dyed with leather dye. The piercing is and unknown wood or as we say in Texas, FOG Wood (Found on Ground Wood). The piece is just over 5in. tall and has a snap lid.
Very nice Bob! How long does it take to do the piercing?

Leather dye huh? Pretty dark for Maple.

Hey... nice box. That leather dye really works nicely! You did a great job on that!

Thanks Jim. My process is to draw the pattern with a pencil. Takes 30 to 45 min. while watching The evening news. Than about an hour to cut out all the holes. The area of the piercing is about 3/32 so it's goes quickly.
