Cherry Burl Vase

Cherry Burl Vase

Vase from a Black Cherry Burl, approx 8" tall x 7" dia - filled w/ layers of epoxy to stabilize and add color and i also added bits of crushed glass for texture in the filled areas.

Comments and feedback welcome!
A great piece. First time I've seen crushed glass used in a turning - it looks almost like Turquoise.

Thank you so much Don!
Frank, there are bits of crushed turquoise under the crushed glass, and you can see that a bit better in some of the images on my website. I used the glass (crushed Coke bottles) for the soft green color and the sparkle - crushed almost to a powder for the consistancy. The larger chunks make it a bit dangerous, but when they fill the voids of the burl under the epoxy, it looks kind of jewel-like. Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation, Scott. I use a lot of Turquoise, but have never tried using crushed glass with it. Will have to give that some thought.
