Ambrosia Moon

Platter about 14" dia. I tried to make the gray/green ambrosia beetle streaks look like clouds. To emphasize this I put a gray/green moon of poplar in the middle. Actually, the entire base of the platter is of this poplar and I simply turned the center through to make the "moon". Also, to islolate the clouds I burned and textured the ring near the rim except on the ambrosia streaks. Deft finish. I'd appreciate comments.

Beautiful and unusual piece. Excellent use of the idiosyncrasies of the wood. Looks like a lot of work burning in the "broken" ring.
