Keith Holt was very generous and sent me one of his face pieces
So I made this box out of Rimu in exchange in the hope that his wife likes it enough to place in her collection as mine has with his face (the wooden one not his )
To get it to him before the Aaw Symposium I didnt have time to get any Photos so Keith very kindly supplied this one (still didnt get there on time )
It is so light that if a gust of wind came by it would fly away
The box vessel itself is the same thickness as the wings
To keep the strength in the wings I had to plan the grain orientation so no gain ended up going across the wings
Maybe Keith could describe a bit more or even if he likes it
You can see more of this style of box at the Dunn gallery Box Exhibition as Lynda was very kind in asking me to send a few up
