Polymer clay has been around for quite some time and I don't think I am the first to use it in turning by any stretch of my imagination. It is a PVC base product that comes in a firm putty type consistency and can be work to a shape, textured etc, then baked to make it hard.

"Kato" polymer clay is a good one that you can get in the States. The maker of this type also does some very good books to explain how to use it. It can be used for hundreds of different ideas and types of work.

It is really fun to use and opens up many possibilities.
