Baby Rattle
John Altberg

Baby Rattle

Made this rattle for a friend's first grandchild. Maple and madrone, finished with beeswax and mineral oil. Conforms to CPSC choke-hazard standards by being larger than 1 11/16" in diameter. Overall length is 5.5". Filled with dried beans.
Jim,

Both balls are hollowed, the spindle is solid. I flared the tenons of the spindle to create a jam fit. There is also a concave flare to make a mating surface with the curve of the ball. A little bit of CA to hold it all together.
